I just tried the developer, and it seemed really quick, rendered well, and was at the point of sorting out my graphics, (I am using an NVIDIA GTS 450 with driver 260.99 installed). Two things happened
ReplyDelete1) I turned on Lighting and Shadows, and the client minimized itself on clicking apply.
2) I turned on Ambient Occlusion and it crashed.
I will try it again since there was no error message appeared to tell me what had gone wrong, but was in a quite lag intensive sim and still pushing 30+ FPS.
This is my system and running 7 Beta 2.

In a heavy load sim:-
Without Lighting + Shadows on - 60-65FPS
With Lighting + Shadows on - 40-45FPS
With minimal shadow and ambient occlusion etc on - 10 - 20FPS
Since I only use the top settings for pictures it runs fine for me, rezzes and stuff very quickly. Obviously as you can the driver for my graphics is only running up to OpenGL 4.1 not 4.2 as 4.2 seems to just screw everything up.
well the developer often minimizes when it has to reinitialize, i guess its some sort of Blackscreen prevention system , it ran fine for me with 16x AA and everything on , thats why i want to know if it runs good for others too , it also has very much WIP on this Driver Problem , also an option to toggle new OpenGL Features... which needs new drivers to even start to login , but still crashes drivers at login...sadly so i could only test with old drivers... and it was REALLY fucking fast
ReplyDeletebut according to actual informations of users i will remain on Kirstens until the developer runs better for everyone
ReplyDeleteI will try it again Niran, I just wanted to give you some feedback. I am using the older drivers as you know, but I'd be willing to test the new drivers and I'm just glad it's a WIP.
ReplyDeleteThe KV Niran client runs awesome though, very stable and obviously the only issue I am currently suffering is the OpenGL which is of course WIP.
Please keep up the good work :) I must say that I would switch back to KV if it returns in the future, but I guess you know this already :)
i know , i will probably stop when this happens
