Disclaimer

Black Dragon is MY Viewer, i decide which feature i want to add and which to remove, i share this Viewer to show the world that user base size is not important, i do rate quality by effort, thought and love put into the project, not some rough estimated numbers. I consider feature requests only if i you can name proper valid reasons i can agree on. It is my (unpaid) time i'm putting into this project, i'm not here to cater to every Joe's desires.

Taking a look at the Bugtracker won't hurt either. Maybe the very thing you experience is already known or the suggestion already suggested.

  • AVX2 Version is for very recent CPU's such as Ryzen and newer Intel models. This version is occasionally updated.
  • AVX Version is for modern CPU's starting at AMD FX 6000 Series and Intel equivalents. This is always the most up-to-date version.
  • Non-AVX Verison is for older-than-above CPU's before 2011/12. This version is occasionally updated.

In doubt, use AVX2. If the Viewer does not start up and does not give you any error message, use AVX, if the same happens there use the non-AVX version, each version can simply be installed over the other.

Should you get an error message on startup and you use Windows 10 you'll need to head over to the Microsoft website and download the latest Visual C++ Redistributable 2013 package, the Viewer requires it, comes with its DLL files but Windows 10 with all the latest updates requires new ones.
