Black Dragon is MY Viewer, i decide which feature i want to add and which to remove, i share this Viewer to show the world that user base size is not important, i do rate quality by effort, thought and love put into the project, not some rough estimated numbers. I consider feature requests only if i you can name proper valid reasons i can agree on. It is my (unpaid) time i'm putting into this project, i'm not here to cater to every Joe's desires.

Black Dragon Viewer 64x - Update 5.4.1 "Birthday Dragon"

Dooodidoodidoodidooom. What we need is more boom!

*blows open the pandoras box*

POSING FOR EVERYONE GUYS POSING FOR EVERYONE! Just kindly request permissions from someone, have them grant said permissions and you are good to go!

Oh yea there's also all the other features that were unlocked for Collision Volumes and Attachment Bones now... and more icons... more icons are important.

  1. I like your approach to the whole "posing others" thing. You have precedent in using customised IMs to negotiate permissions and allow the functionality because that's how the RLV protocols work and LL have signed off on those. And, like your approach, it depends on the user choosing to run a compatible viewer. If LL try to say you can't do it that way, they'll be on quite shaky ground.

    1. Does that mean that RLV is back in Black Dragon?

  3. Thanks for your amazing work. I am here to say that I am having problem with the poser option "Reset Rotation''. When I try to use it the viewer crashes and close. PS: I did clean reinstall.

  4. can you do a whitelist instead of pose request every single time so that it'll saves them time incase they went afk.

    1. There's several problems with that.
      A) Linden Labs would be highly against this, as its a safety issue. We already have these issues with much less permanent things such as animation permissions. And people are outraged at experiences that whitelist permanently.
      B) Whitelisting would require saving a list of people somewhere locally, a list that could be manipulated and thus people could enter everyone's names/ID's and give themselves permissions of everyone. LL would be super against this.
      C) The current implementation is temporary and is meant as a bridge until we get this in an official capacity, it's also temporary because whether you have permissions is saved into the person itself, so whenever the Viewer loses sight of a person, it loses track of the permission automatically. This is a limitation of how code works. I could make the permission list a global thing and keep track of permissions past an avatar's lifetime but once again this would be something LL might not like at all.

So for now it will stay like this. You only need to request once anyway (unless you/they teleport away or disconnect/crash). Technically you don't even need to request, they can directly give you permissions too. Any person on any Viewer can in fact.

  5. Hi Niran! Can you tell me if is there a way to make the poser control balls slower? That is, is there a way to make the poser control balls move the avatar more subtly?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Control balls? You mean the onscreen edit rotation tools on the bone itself? Not that i know of, but i'm also planning to add something that a lot of other programs like Blender do to help with that, the sliders can already do that. For precision movement you want to use the sliders anyway, that's what they are for after all.

    2. Hold Shift and/or Ctrl and roll your mouse scroll (middle wheel) while cursor above the sliders. This way you have more control over them!

  7. Hey Niran
I know ''derender'' option is under ''Dragon'' drop down menu. But, any chance you someday put this option into the right-click menu drop for easy quick acess?

  11. Hey, the poser is good, the only thing is i noticed than the Depth of Field on the previous version, you could see the difference when it's ON and OFF, now i feel like it's the same, i see no diffenrece when it's OFF or ON... So the render of the picturee feel like the quality is lower than the previous one and it's frustrating me... The setting are the same as the previous version so idk what happened :/

    1. OKI so i found why : the newest version doesnt have Deferred Rendering, i use an olders version and tbh the rendering is way better for me, is there any ways to put turn it on, for the newest version? ty so muich !!!

      Delete
    2. Deferred Rendering is always on since 5.0. It cannot be disabled because it is an integral requirement for PBR to work.

I'm pretty sure THAT is not the issue.

5.0 also got rid of several old rendering features (essentially ALL the extra features 4.x had), some of them have been reimplemented over time and some work different now (like Tone Mapping, Color Correction and Screen Space Reflection)

Depth of Field has not changed, as long as you have High Quality DoF enabled it should look exactly the same as before and you shouldn't see an immediate difference, DoF is not supposed to be visible unless you are zooming close onto something.

I'd recommend doing a clean install and probably also clearing your settings for 5.x, residual settings and files can break 5.x versions when coming from 4.x

  12. After I submit the request, it doesn't let me put the blue check mark in the box. Why? By the way, the other person receives an unclickable IM.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The requet has to be accepted by the other person, then the checkmark appears automatically

      Delete
    2. How does the other person accept this request? There's nothing for them to click, just an IM with the phrase "PoserRequest." There's some command they can use to accept it. I'm not yet able to use this Poser feature in this new version.

    3. I want to know this also.

    4. Thats because they are not using a supported viewer (latest Black Dragon only)

I have a legacy body and trying to get gloss/shine (wet Look) to work. is there a group that is familier with the BD setting to help me get it working? When I go in to firestorm or Apature viewer it all works fine but Your viewer has so many advanced features I don't want to go back

    ReplyDelete

    1. It should just work, there is nothing to enable. Raise glossiness.

  14. Thank you for your amazing viewer ! I took a lot of screenshots with ! Sadly, it seems there is no postprocessing include ? I tried all the settings to make it works with Reshade but impossible. The only way to have the filters with BD is to take native snapshots with Reshade, so no 2k, 4k with Black Dragon :(
    Do you know why ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The answer is very technical.

In short. It's not possible. Reshade (and similar injectors) are applied onto the final image on screen not the actual data used for rendering, the Viewer doesn't know what Reshade does and cannot interact with it at all. It's the reason the UI is affected by Reshade too.
