Black Dragon is MY Viewer, i decide which feature i want to add and which to remove, i share this Viewer to show the world that user base size is not important, i do rate quality by effort, thought and love put into the project, not some rough estimated numbers. I consider feature requests only if i you can name proper valid reasons i can agree on. It is my (unpaid) time i'm putting into this project, i'm not here to cater to every Joe's desires.

Black Dragon Viewer 64x - Update 5.0.4 Beta "Probing Dragon"
First update of the year! Aaaand its just a quickfix. Hopefully this time fixing the startup crashes for real. Oh yea also the light brightness option works again...
A big update is coming later. Prepare for more glorious PBR breakage.
As it is, using PBR in SL isn't very stable yet. Lots of PBR related functions still need to be stabilized before it fully gets past the beta stage. That's all I can say without being too technical about it. The LL viewers, and every TPV that uses PBR has issues with it. If you've been keeping up with discussions in many groups about PBR within SL, there's always something to fix.
I have been waiting for a no-installation package for a long time! With 5.0.4 it finally happened. Thank you!
Maybe it's just a problem with my PC, but when I installed Black Dragon, the GPU clock kept going up even after the GPU was converted from 980Ti, 1080, 3090, 4090, etc. Even after re-setting up WIndows. With the no-install version, this phenomenon did not occur after Windows was re-set up, and the GPU clock would drop properly at low loads. I really appreciate the no-install package.
Weird. Sounds like registering the Viewer as an "official" app to Windows makes it subject to unknown rules, possibly related to energy saving or drivers.
It is currently not a thing and won't be coming back for now (possibly ever). It solely depends on if i can figure out this new stupid shader system and why everything instantly explodes if you try to do anything with it. I will go into more detail how, when, why and what is coming back and when in an upcoming post/video.
Please, is anyone facing the problem of having the entire inventory reloaded at every login? This problem is really bad, if anyone else has experienced this and found a solution, please help me!
It has always been like that for me. My Inventory has never been cached, it always freshly reloaded every login (although i have a small inventory with 40k so it was hardly noticeable aside from the freezing for a couple seconds right after the loading screen fades out). I do not know why it invalidates your (or my) inventory cache and forces you to reload it. Could be a too small cache, could be a setting somewhere, idk but it shouldn't be causing any issues.
For me it wasn't like that before. The inventory was only fully reloaded when I chose to clear the cache, and not every time I logged in... My inventory has 200k items, and when I take a photo and a crash occurs, it's very bad to relog it and have to stay for a long time waiting for the cache to fully reload (it reloads very slowly and freezes several times during the process). There are several minutes of waiting, and it is impossible to do anything during the reload, because if I try, BD crash and close. Three versions ago it wasn't like that, this only happened when I decided to clear the cache in the viewer tab. I even checked the Debug Settings, and the options "PurgeCacheOnNextStartup" and "PurgeCacheOnStartup" are marked with FALSE, but it is as if they were TRUE, so every time I exit (or enter) the viewer, my cache is cleared and reloaded, causing crashes...
Double click teleport is gone. I hotkeyed teleport to the double click but it doesn't act the same at all, it used to be fast now it loads as if I left the region, but also the camera wants to constantly reset if i click anywhere so if I zoom the camera around and double click, its already trying to reset so i end up somewhere I didn't mean to go.
I cannot reproduce neither of those issues. Double click teleport works just fine, although it has a slight desync between "halting" world updates and halting your avatar movement so some attachments may continue moving for a couple more frames after everything else has stopped resulting in them looking slightly "off", but that is if anything only a slight visual issue. No teleport/loading screens whatsoever. It also does not reset the camera at all. Make sure you have no bound any other actions accidentally to double left click (or maybe even left click), i could see single-left click bound to moving forward potentially causing interference because until you do the second click, making it a double-click you effectively press mouse left only once, for all the Viewer cares this means "move forward" for it and movement would result in resetting your camera.
what is pbr breakage?

DeleteI dont have the deferred button on the side anymore and it crashes all the time
ReplyDeleteDeferred is no longer a thing. It is always on by default now and cannot be disabled anymore with PBR.
DeleteWhen are you crashing?
Did you do a manual clean uninstall of absolutely everything? (cache, settings, viewer) and the installed the latest version?
Is Volumetric lighting still a thing in the current beta viewer(or is there some other way to create the god rays effect?)

mm is the Rlva is still here? i don't see it nowhere
ReplyDeleteWhy can't I download one of the old versions again? I really hate the new update.
ReplyDeleteMe too!
ReplyDeleteIs there any way to refresh texture in Black Dragon?
ReplyDeleteHello, appreciate all the work you've done on this viewer. Just wanted to know where I can find the setting to enable RLVa now? Thank you in advanced!
ReplyDeleteRLVa is gone
Deleteaww man, my body doesn't have an alpha so I needed to use an RLVa Alpha Hud but it wasn't working. Thank you for letting me know!
DeleteIs there a reason why when I zoom out more than 3 meters most of my textures go away? It's really hard to take photos
ReplyDeleteTambien me pasa lo mismo, no se como solucionar eso, y ya no se peude volver a versiones anteriores
DeleteWhat happens to me is constant blurring textures, which has also make it very difficult to take photos.
DeleteIts fixed in 5.1.1.
DeleteWhere can I download 5.1.1 because 5.1.0 crash on my computer
ReplyDelete5.1.1 is not yet out.
DeleteWill RLV ever make a comeback to this viewer? There is still many a process that ends up broken without that single core element, unfortunately
ReplyDeletewhere can i download the old black dragon the new one sucks really bad crashes all the time and i have a high quality gaming laptop
ReplyDeleteThis viewer instead of getting better its getting worst, good luck.
