Black Dragon is MY Viewer, i decide which feature i want to add and which to remove, i share this Viewer to show the world that user base size is not important, i do rate quality by effort, thought and love put into the project, not some rough estimated numbers. I consider feature requests only if i you can name proper valid reasons i can agree on. It is my (unpaid) time i'm putting into this project, i'm not here to cater to every Joe's desires.

Black Dragon Viewer 64x - Update 5.1.3 "Birthday Dragon"
Happy Birthday to me!
Also one year ago is when i released 4.3.2, the last pre-PBR update. Coincidence? I think not!
Today I came here to ask for help regarding the constant blurring textures, and when I saw that there was a new version, I installed it to see if the problem would be solved. However, the problem persists, and in addition the HUDS constantly stop working . The new slider system is terrible! Did people really ask for this?
I went back to the previous version 5.1.2, but the problem with blurry textures is unbearable. I apply "refresh texture" constantly, and a few seconds later textures blur again. Is there a way to fix this?
Constant texture blurring means you are running out of viewer-allocated texture memory (VRAM). You can try setting your texture memory setting higher but it should be set to Unlimited by default already, if it isn't it might help. Note that Unlimited simply means it will attempt to take as much memory as your GPU can supply, if your GPU simply cannot supply enough VRAM for the Viewer to hold all textures it will do the texture blurring thing. It has been a known issue for a long time (previously LL Viewer specific because they didn't allow more than 1GB to be set) but nowadays its becoming a bigger issue again because with PBR and Materials we are now applying 2-3 times as many textures to objects. From my own testings and what i commonly see you'll need at LEAST 4GB VRAM (free and not being used by anything else like your OS, browser or programs) and somewhere between 6GB and 8GB to make sure it should never happen that you see texture blurring. Refresh Texture does not help in the case that you run out of texture memory.
I'll have a look at the HUD issues, they might be caused by the invisible objects fix, i might have forgotten to cleanup something.
People did not ask specifically for this slider system, they asked for reducing the precision or range in the Poser sliders, with this system being completely optional i don't see the problem, you don't have to use it and its solely meant for people who don't know you can simply type in the value or use the arrow keys for precise movements. What exactly is terrible about it? It does exactly what its meant to do, you hold down CTRL and your slider movement is divided by 10 (in other words giving you 10 times finer movement). You set a value close to what you want, and then drag the slider and hold CTRL to finetune from there.
LL believes this to be an accidental bug with Vram thrashing being worked on in Maint A; plausibly hold off digging too deeply until that's fixed. Short term, a viewer reboot would often fix but sometimes a location has enough vram usage to trigger it reliably no matter what til it's fixed.
I also get this problem, had to stop using the viewer even though it's been my sole go-to since it first came out and I have supported it on patreon forever. I'll still support it for now but I can't currently use it because textures simply don't load. Making do with firestorm for now, but what can you do.
The problem with the cache started when Niran decided to try to reduce the login time, a few versions ago. Since then every time I exit the viewer the cache is emptied, and every time I return I have to wait for the cache to reload for a long time. Annoying!
Why is anyone complaining about the sliders I love them it makes it so much easier to make poses one thing I miss is being able to have another avi pose with it but I did check out firestorms PBR but it was eh I like Black dragon better and it's hard to go back to firestorm as I've been using this as my daily over all who knows why they just released pbr for there stuff but you know what they say mimicry is the greatest form of flattery
Respect Niran's work. He has no obligation to do anything for you for free, besides, saying that the viewer is garbage is a lie that just is no greater than your ignorance.

If i had even the slightest issue with trans people i'd have to rid 2 of my best friends. If i had an issue with your sexuality, i'd have to rid basically 95% of all people and friends i know (since most of them are furries and we all know that they are rarely ever straight). If i had an issue with your color or race or whatever you want to call it, i'd have to get rid of a bunch of good friends not to mention i wouldn't be able to even walk to the goddamn fucking store without probably having to kill myself seeing how many black people run around here.

I can hardly believe that the "anonymous" one is really concerned with the problems of transgender people. Why should a real transgender person be upset - about a viewer? Even more, what would be the significance of a discrepancy between the biological sex and the sex experienced in mind - in the virtual world? None at all!
For in the virtual world you can enjoy the sex you want.
Also, the discrepancy, as described above, one can hopefully solve in reality, but never by scolding in the web.

Same here, using Parallels to run the program on Mac via Windows 11, no previously downloaded versions of Black Dragon. Keeps crashing at "Initializing texture cache." Is there any possible fixes for this issue Niran?
No idea. Sounds like an incompatibility with Parallels. Also Windows 11 is untested and any updates for it may or may not break the Viewer at any time. I use Windows 10.
If you are on Windows NATIVELY and you are crashing after updating you may need to manually clean install the Viewer, the FAQ should have an instruction on how to do that. Installing 5.x into 4.x folder will keep some leftovers from 4.x that will cause 5.x to crash.
Hey Niran Will the possibility of editing the pose of another avatar (in addition to our own avatar) through Poser be something real one day or is this something completely impossible?

I had a trans person rape me, it was very disturbing and when I tell people about it I'm being transphobic because the person was trans? I wish it was a human requirement to declare your biological birth somehow and not have this be overridden. Even though I am bisexual, I want the choice to still consent with whom I'm still sleeping with. I want that person to honestly declare it to me, do not do so and then shove the reasoning under a movement is unacceptable.
If a person sleeps with you and does not honestly declare their biological gender, then it is rape - no worse than a person using their status or power to take advantage of a situation, or age, or anything else. It's shitty no matter who the person is. I absolutely hate that this is being protected and swept under a rug by a community.
I would like to point out that people naively thought, that putting the victim in power would fix everything, but these victims are now just allowed to be the rapists, and what's even worse is everyone is giving them a pat on the back for it.

We have many disabled people. These disabled people should be able to use the disabled restroom, and there should always be a disabled restroom because people have to use the bathrooms. If we need more disabled bathrooms, that's okay too.
I believe in everyone getting a fair shot at life BUT I want those in power to be capable, able to show up to work, act like a leader and do the job. That means making hard decisions that benefit the masses, not the individual. Part of this also means protecting the people who are under your care from threats, from even themselves. . When I look at the state of current things, I see people unfit to do their jobs, and that puts everyone at risk.
Do I think trans people should be able to exist and live a nice life? Of course. There needs to be a place for everyone in this world. But do I also think some people are more able to do a position than others (this is just a fact - a short disabled man is not going to do as well as a tall man in basketball. Does this make either of them less as humans? Of course not, but it's just a fact). Yes. But if you were out in the wild and there was a short disabled guy and a tall guy, who would you stand behind to protect you from a predator? Would this be discrimination? No! It is the instinct that is why humanity even exists today.
So why do you all want disabled people to be in charge? How is it benefitting anymore? Treat them as they are, give them the same rights as any other disabled person, give them a place, a job or a way to live, access to medication, a jail sentence if they act out, a toilet ffs. But do not treat them like magical unicorns who can do no harm and protect everyone. It is not in the interest of the greater good.
Send rapists to jail and put proper leaders in charge. Give everyone bathrooms. Thank you.

However, I never suspected anything, until one day that person started to distance himself, he would not enter the game... appeared one day, disappeared for months; I suffered a lot! And, after a long time and suffering on my part, the person simply entered the game and said: I have something to tell you, I am not a man, I am a woman.
My world fell apart. I felt betrayed, deceived, used, ridiculed. During the time we were in a relationship, I always made it clear that I had never been interested in women, I am a staunch heterosexual and I do not condone homosexual practices. Even so, that woman deceived me for years, sending photos of someone who was not her. She mocked my feelings.
Today she is doing the same thing with a Dutch woman in Second Life, dating another woman, pretending to be a man, using the same account she used to deceive me.

Because it was broken and keeps breaking constantly in big LL changes and i can't fix someone elses code that i have hardly any idea how it works and waiting constantly for Kitty to bring it up to date with the latest changes is not an option unless you want to wait months or even years for any update

Once you start managing clothes and all kinds of things using RLV, it's hard to go back. I feel like lack of RLV might solidify BD as a viewer people only launch to take photos, which is not necessarily something you care about, but still.
I just downloaded the viewer and I'm having some issues. Everything rezzes just fine like the decor, landscaping etc.. But the sim land itself stays grey....Any ideas?
