Black Dragon is MY Viewer, i decide which feature i want to add and which to remove, i share this Viewer to show the world that user base size is not important, i do rate quality by effort, thought and love put into the project, not some rough estimated numbers. I consider feature requests only if i you can name proper valid reasons i can agree on. It is my (unpaid) time i'm putting into this project, i'm not here to cater to every Joe's desires.

Experimental Release 1.49 (1941)

ATTENTION: ATTENTION! ATTENTIONE! xD
NOTE: That red Phoenix like looking Central Dragon is NOT included. Thanks.
UPDATE: 32bit version available, enjoy as long as this pointless 32bit compiling continues.

i´ll keep this rather short this time
I need your feedback , lots of it , buy me some buckets of it!

User Interface:

As promised in my group and several other places this update i´ve focused on my Skyrim Preferences Panel, which should be now to 90% functional, and thats where i need some help. YOU will have to test it out , give me feedback about it , what could be done better , where and why. Also you should report any feature or button that is not working so i can create a list what i still have to implement. As it is now my new Preferences Panel replaces the Preferences Floater which can still be accessed by going into the main menu (NV - Edit - Preferences) which you will probably have to do a few times for some options due to not all of them working in my new Preferences Panel yet.

I´ve added again 2 new loadingscreen pictures in order to bring even more nice scenery to your teleport screens! Those are:

both taken in 6000x3306 and are downsized to 1200x6xx for the loadingscreen making them ultra antialiased with superior quality :)

Gamma Correction and Tone Mapping can now be invidually activated , not needing each other anymore , in the same change i´ve reorganized the whole Graphics panel a bit , moving the Reflection , Light and Shadow amount to the left side , render attached particles/lights to the top general options set and adding the experimental Save/Load & Backup setting presets system.

Preferences Panel:

What i´ve planned for it is that i will allow the background transparency beeing adjusted via a general slider that will always be visible when its open. You will also be able to disable the background blurring when Deferred Rendering and Depth of Field are on and obviously i will try to move all functionality from Preferences Floater to Preferences Panel. I will also try to find a way around that little problem when you open joystick prefs as example , it will open BEHIND the panel forcing you do close it in order to use it... i will probably make a combination of allowing you to set transparency to 100% and allowing clicking through the panel , it will allow you to just tone down the background and use the floaters without having to close the panel itself.

Rendering:

A bug has been reported that when you disabled Shadows while Deferred was active , Deferred and all its containing options would become unavailable and not checkable again, i´ve fixed this issue , it was caused by a shader i forgot to take out a line that has a non defined word in it , causing the whole shader not to compile and deferred getting disabled in its whole due to Linden´s awesome incremental shader disable system which will incrementally disable all features/shaders that fail to start/initialize/compile no matter the reason.

Release:

This Release only comes with a 64bit version of it at start , i might do the 32bit tomorrow.

Note:

Due to some conversations with Inara Pey about Server issues , i´ve teleported to a few SIMs , trying to reproduce it and also turned up Draw Distance to 768m , resulting in about 16+ SIMs getting fully loaded and rendered while Deferred with Shadows were active. 10 FPS while doing so, after leaving that SIM and turning Draw Distance back to my usual 64m i´ve checked my memory usage which was surprisingly low with 1,25GB in a half full SIM (which probably used 250mb of those at this moment), which is awesome and tells me that the Viewer finally scraps shit out of memory as it should when leaving SIMs, that means for YOU , you can stay online for an extended period of time without crashing due to out of memory :)

Version:

The Viewer is again updated to the very latest Viewer Development code and therefor now is absolutely up to date with Viewer Development , Pathfinding and HTTP.

before you start downloading i would like to focus your attention on a cool music album i´ve recently found and listened non stop.
Lapfox - Figurehead Remastered
For everyone that might be wondering , yes those are "songs" created by a Furry , therefor i call it Furry Music.

ugh... i´ve written a whole blogpost... i wanted to cut it short...
anyway , enjoy
NiranV

  5. UM.. GOT A PROBLEM WITH THE CHAT LOGS. VIEWER WON'T ALLOW ME TO MOVE THEM TO ANOTHER LOCATION AS THEY ARE APPARENTLY GOING INTO A FOLDER THAT DOES NOT EXIST ON MY COMPUTER.

    1. they are going into your default chatlog folder , you can change this folder by using the Preferences floater , Log Path changing is not yet working in the new Panel.

    2. Hi! Not working in either the new floater prefs or the old prefs for me. The browse button is ignored in either and chat logs can't be moved.

    3. I think i fixed that in 1.5 , but havnt worked on it since weeks now. Dark Souls - Prepare to Die Edition is consuming me like you consume souls in this game. Will probably post something about it soon , and when i finished it i will continue.

    4. Is there something I am not doing right? Do I need to install something from SL to get Nirans to run? Or is it that I have an Intel Graphics card and can't run Nirans on it?

  6. "32bit version available, enjoy as long as this pointless 32bit compiling continues."

    NO!! Please continue it!!
Nirans is the ONLY viewer i can use on my pc that has no graphical lag like on the other viewers AND features all the features of the actual viewer!!

    1. Niran is absolutely right. This distinction between 32bit and the so-called 64bit version is completely useless. 64bit in this case does not mean it will run on 32bit hardware only, it only means it CAN SUPPORT more memory, making it crash not so fast due to running out of memory. This "64bit" version will run perfectly fine on 32bit Windows versions. The executables of the 32bit and "64bit" version are completely identical except a single bit that informs special Windows versions it can handle more memory. Period!

    2. Should of course read "64bit in this case does not mean it will run on 64bit hardware only"

    3. Exactly. But theres one little thing i´ve noticed, not sure if its still the case with recent compiles but it was with older versions. The LAA less version (32bit) crashes at 1,25GB Memory usage BUT uses memory less aggresive, the LAA version (64bit) seemed to use memory extremly aggresive quickly getting to 1,25GB which would have caused the Viewer to crash. In this case it would have caused a 32bit User to crash quicklier than with a 32bit version which seemed to use memory slower, but again im not sure if this still is the case , the last time i made extreme memory tests and checked my memory usage afterwards with 64bit version it showed me 1,25GB memory usage, which is a pretty low and cleaned value if you take into account that i´ve visited several SIMs and turned draw distance up to 768 and fully load 16+ SIMs at the same time.

Theres also a little thing a few people seemed to have long ago with my 64bit version on 32bit OS, they couldnt "install" (unpack) it which leaves me totally clueless why. WinRar doesnt make a different between 32 or 64bit ,it doesnt limit anything. Well and then there are those people that seem to not be able to start my 64bit version on 32bit for whatever reason, im really not sure but as Ansa said, all i do is just enable a little flag called Large Adress Aware (LAA) which tells your Windows that it is allowed to use more than 1,25GB of memory , preventing a crash at that point.

Well good new then... I feel better now... :)

  7. Is there an extra step that has to be taken to save changed settings in the new Preferences panel? More specifically, the camera offset settings are not saving, or working, whichever. They're no longer available in the old panel and I cannot get them to work for Rear View or Left Shoulder view. I've not tried the others, those two are the only ones I use. I've tried the following:

Change the offsets, click accept, then switch to another camera view and back to Rear or Left Shoulder.

    and-

Change the offsets, click accept, close and restart the viewer

But when I start the viewer again, the numbers are back to default. Is this a temporary/known issue or something I'm forgetting to do? It is one of my favorite features about Nirans

    1. Known and has been said in previous post. Havnt said it works in this release, expect everything not specially mentioned to work , not to work

    2. I've read the past 3 posts and see nothing about it. Was more just verifying that it wasn't something I was doing wrong on my part. Kthx

Hmm also shadowing doesn't seem to work with couple of mesh items.
:BG Feline legs are fully covered by shadows

  9. I broke it. I've tried everything to get it back, but, no luck. I was trying to fix some settings in graphics and don't remember what i clicked now, but i've not been able to log back in since then with this viewer, and i'm really super sad about it. It is the only viewer that doesnt lag me to pieces when i log in. But, now it makes it allllllllllmost to the log in screen, and crashes. I've restored, reinstalled, rebooted, everything.. to no avail.

  10. Niran, can we expect to see the upload to Flirk implemented any time soon?

    1. Flickr you mean. I think not, thats something Exodus can keep for themself if Firestorm doesnt take it. Im just focusing on Graphics not on new Upload techniques.

  11. hey niran this tidbit might be usefull

"If you're serious about using SSE then ditch the Microsoft compiler and use a decent compiler. Intel's ICC is probably the best bet. It has full support for SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2 and generates much better code."

and ive seen the differene in 4.1... its insane o.0 i do recommend it ^^)

    1. Sounds like it generates incompatible stuff to me. Is the Intel compiler usable with AMD at all? or is it just called Intel because its from Intel?

  12. cannot reproduce. The Profile icon is also secretly the (i) icon, the (i) image itself has been removed. Just click the profile icon to open that miniprofile.
