Black Dragon Updates Episode MXVII
In a virtual universe far far away...
It's a small one but important one, it contains an updated CEF plugin which fixes an important security issue, we were asked to get this into our releases ASAP. So after some short testing and a test run on yesterday's meeting... everything seems fine, so here we go.
As usual, if you find bugs, report them... or don't.
With this update i'll also experiment with the auto-updater again. This release will be made mandatory so everyone will have to update to this version soon. This is primarily to get people to get all the latest stuff and to see whether the updater works now, it will be removed if it doesn't (saving 10-15mb from the package).
Niran - sometimes when I use BD it is laggy and slow FPS, other times seems fine. I noticed today the disk drive was running at 100% and looking at the task manager, I saw this service was doing that: ntoskrnl.exe . As soon as I closed BD the service stopped. Any idea what that is writing to disk 100% of the time when BD is running? I am on Win 10

DeleteJust observing FPS I could be getting about 16-17 FPS on a sim (which is half of the FPS of FS in the same sim and same wL setting) that that service kicks on the disk goes to 100% and FPS halves on the BD. I didn't observe this same service running the disk at 100 on the FS viewer> I also noticed this services seems to be tied into the the Shadows -the shadows on in BD the services engaes and starts writing massive amounts of date to the disk. turning off shadows the services stops writing to the disk

No idea. Google says thats the Windows kernel. I have never noticed any particularly high disk usage but i use an HDD that is pretty much full in use at almost all times when i just look funny at it.
DeleteThe build floater in the last couple of iterations of Black Dragon are messed up. For example, flatten raises the terrain.
ReplyDeleteCorrection: This has been fixed in 3.4.3 already.
DeleteIt's still not working right on 3.4.5. Flatten is raising the land. I've done a clean install, cleared the cache, and all settings. The land edit tools are still not working correctly.
